When the Silver Legacy Resort Casino opened it’s doors back in 1995, the big “Las Vegas Style” attraction was a full size silver mining derrick smack dab in the middle of the Casino floor, directly under the giant dome. Every hour, like clock work, the wheels would turn and the rig would hiss and groan, simulating a working silver mining rig. People would gather on the second floor walkway to watch the rig in action. These days it does little, if anything. The other day the wheels did turn a bit, but nowhere near what it used to do. Today it looks magnificent in all it’s colorful glory.
