For the next week, the Region 3 Arabian Championship Horse Show will be held at the Reno Sparks Livestock Events Center. It is free and open to the public. These images were shot before I was approached and told I could not take pictures of the event because they have a “professional event photographer” doing that for them. I don’t know how to take that. Am I a threat to the “professional photographer” with these images? On second thought, maybe I am a threat. I do produce some good stuff. Except, I don’t make any money for my efforts, so … Continue reading Arabian Championship Horse Show

The annual River Festival was in full swing this weekend, after a year off due to the pandemic. The festival usually features kayaking competitions, but once again, the river’s flow is too low due to the drought. But the music, food, and beer was flowing non-stop. The festival, which is normally free to attend, was, for the first time ever, a paid event. Even though there wasn’t any kayaking competitions, there were plenty of water craft floating along the river. Continue reading The River Festival is back, almost…

…since George Perry Floyd Jr. was murdered by police during an arrest after a store clerk suspected he may have used a counterfeit $20 bill. The world watched as a Minneapolis police officer knelt on Floyd’s neck and back for 9 minutes and 29 seconds until he was lifeless. And the world reacted with both peaceful and not so peaceful protests, including right here in Reno. My coverage of the local events includes both the peaceful protests and ugly riots. I am sharing just a few of the 250 images I shot last year. I was hoping for a candle … Continue reading Today marks one year…
